As other work commitments see me outside of Vietnam during this Lunar New Year period I felt I should still post some current work, even if it is not precisely associated with Indochina!  I was on assignment in Singapore for one day to capture the mood and atmosphere of the build up to the Chinese New Year in the city.  Although time limitations and poor weather restricted my options, I still feel I was able to capture a mix of candid shots together with pre-arranged subjects and settings.   To be honest, Singapore does not entice me as a photographer as it simply cannot compare to the rich cultural mosaic of life found in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, however, as with any photographic subject matter, it is precisely how one ‘creates’ a scene that transposes across to the final impact of the image.  To that extent I found Singapore to be quite challenging but rewarding in the end.

It was an enjoyable day’s work and although I now find myself extending my work commitments beyond the borders of Indochina I hope I can re-divert my concentration back to the photographic matter of Indochina in the months ahead.
